AIRDRIE BEGINNERS

Katie will be running a set of beginners classes for those living in Airdrie. Classes will take place at the Airdrie Leisure Centre.

DUNDEE BEGINNERS

Piolho and Bombeiro have decided to relocate to the more central White Room Yoga Studio, and are looking to kickstart the new year with an 8 Week Beginners Course to help promote interest and to find new members for the Dundee crew.



EDINBURGH

Regular classes resume Tuesday 10th January. Beginners are welcome to all sessions, so come and try something new and challenging this year.



2011

CHRISTMAS RODA

This year's christmas knees up will be hosted by Treinel Nick in Glasgow and will be an excellent opportunity to wish Risadinha boaviagem por Brazil. Christmas themed party shenannigans are promised after rodinha. An open roda will be going down, so get in touch if you want the details. All well wishers welcome.



CHRISTMAS BREAK

EDINBURGH

The roda on 18th December will be the last Edinburgh session of 2011. Classes will resume in early January 2012.

GLASGOW

The open roda on Thursday 15th of December will be the last Glasgow session. Classes will resume on Thursday 12th January 2012 6.30pm, and will run on Thursdays only for a short while until a new venue is or slot is found for the Mondays.

GLASGOW & DUNDEE

Informal rodas and meetings will replace Regular classes which will restart in September.



EDINBURGH REGULAR CLASSES IN JUNE/JULY

The last class in June will be Tuesday 28th, as many of us will be venturing to Croatia to take part in the annual event on the island in early July. Classes will resume on Thursday 14th of July.
Also, there has once again been interest shown towards our now successful beginner's course being run in St Giles Church, Marchmont. We will be looking to start another course in August, but this will depend on space availability during the festival, as well as other factors. Please stay tuned for further details soon.

FREE CLASSES AT DALMENY STREET PARK FESTIVAL

NEW ADULT BEGINNERS COURSE AT NEW VENUE

Mao No Chao Edinburgh are pleased to announce the details of our latest introductory Adult Beginners Course scheduled to commence on Wednesday 23rd of February, in the recently refurbished MGA Academy Performing Arts complex.

The course is scheduled to run one session every Wednesday for 6 weeks. Book early for the special introductory price of £30 Block payment.

The course will focus on the individual, developing the fundamental movements and rhythms of the playful Capoeira Angola traditional style.
Finally, participants will be invited to attend a special graduation roda session free of charge, where everyone can share all that they have learned together! Class Details

Edinburgh classes are now back on, please take note of Thursday's new earlier start time. Glasgow starts back on the 10th of January, and Dundee 11th of January. Fraser in Inverness will be looking to restart around the 16th of January.



2010

CHRISTMAS OPEN RODAS

There will be an Open Roda hosted by Lucio of Mao no Chao Glasgow. This charity event aims to raise funds for the Simon Community, appeal, who work with homeless people in Glasgow. The roda will commence at 7pm, 16th December at the Glasgow Steiner School.We are invited to bring food to share, before eating properly at the Dub & Grub afterwards. All Welcome.


Also, Mao no Chao Edinburgh are to host an Open Roda at Out Of The Blue Cutting Room on Sunday 19th December 5pm, to mark the end of the term.
All Welcome.


Furthermore, we are fortunate to recieve an invitation from Gorilla of Senzala Glasgow to their Open Roda Fundraiser.


This event aims to raise money for Mestre Peixinho, one of Grupo Senzala's founding members in Rio, who has been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. All the money gathered at this event will go towards his treatment costs.

The roda will take place Friday, December 17th, 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

CONTRA MESTRE DION TO RE-VISIT SCOTLAND

Contra Mestre Dion has announced that he will be visiting Scotland, and will be running workshops and classes in early January 2011.

2009

CHRISTMAS RODA

There will be a roda at Out Of The Blue in Edinburgh on Friday 18th December. All welcome.

CHRISTMAS BREAK

DION'S AUTUMN VISIT
Dion will be visiting Scotland again in October. He will teach classes in Edinburgh on the 8th, 9th and 16th, and he will be running workshops in Aberdeen, Findhorn, Inverness and Edinburgh.

GOOD NEWS FOR GLASGOW
A new home for capoeira angola in Glasgow has appeared, the Glasgow Steiner School, just off Dumbarton rd by Kelvingrove art gallery. There will now be regular classes there on Monday and Thursday evenings.

EDINBURGH CLASSES RESTART
The regular classes at Out of the Blue began again on 1st September.

AUGUST EVENINGS
Piolho and Cabrinha hosted a series of evenings in August, with capoeria on Leith Links or outside the Scottish Parliament, and vegetable currie or suchlike afterwards. Obregado.

MESTRE MARROM
Mestre Marrom, Prof. Carcará & Prof. Dion came to Scotland for our annual event 16th-17th May.

PROFESSORA TATIANA
Topping of the year in style. Tatiana´s December visit, 3rd to 15th, great classes and workshops supporting our group.

MESTRE MARROM and four other capoeiristas came to Scotland for our annual event 23rd-25th May.

FANTASMA
Montrose (finally!), Aberdeen and Inverness hosted Simon (Fantasma) & Cutia for some great workshops.

DION MOVES TO BARCELONA
After 9 years working with Capoeira in Scotland, Dion heads to new pastures, opening arms and hands to new lands. Regular visits provide support and guidance for his group. Obrigadão to Cutia who is continuing building the kids work in schools and running an open class.

First a short stop in New York at the end of November, visiting Mestre João Grande, who gives his recognition and value for Dion's work and full support to his group mão no chão. Obrigadão

MESTRE CHAMINÉ UPDATE
Mestre Chaminé is currently developing a kids project on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro. Mão no chão is aiming to get involved and help in this project.

MESTRE CLÁUDIO UPDATE
Mestre Cláudio has left Scotland for the moment after his six month stay here. He has formed his own group based in Glasgow.
